Here is a list of the most-asked questions about our society, along with helpful answers to most of the queries you might have.  If your enquiry isn't here, please contact us and we'll reply as soon as we can.

How do I become an Acting Member?

Membership generally happens at the start of each production as part of the setting-up of each new show i.e. bringing the acting team together after the auditions results have been announced. This happens twice a year on average - normally in January for the Spring Production and June/July for the Autumn Production. That's not to say you can't become a member at other times of the year - please contact our Membership Committee Member for further information about becoming a member part-way through a rehearsal run.

What does the Membership Fee cover?

There annual are ongoing costs involved in running our society, such as our scenery production unit, various insurances, advertising and adminstration fees etc that the Membership Fees go towards covering each year.

How much does it cost to be an Acting Member?

The annual Membership Fee is currently £40 which is payable in January or July each year and covers each person for a continuous 12 months period (i.e. January to December, or July to June). The Membership Fee is in addition to each Production Fee which can be variable but is normally £60. There are normally two productions a year, our Spring Production in May and our Autumn Production in November. The Production Fee goes towards rehearsal venue hire, costumes and performance licence fee (if applicable) etc. This means that if you wish to be involved in both productions over the 12 month period of your Membership, your fees would normally be £160 in total. There is a 50% consession for Full-Time NUS Members or people on JSA for all of these fees..
