Fully Searchable Digital Archive of Programmes and Photographs
This library collection of scanned programmes and photographs date from 1913 when the society first performed to the present day. Most of the original material is stored safely in the theatre programme collection of The Hampshire Records Office based in Winchester, home to more than 48,000 programmes.
It was an enormous task but we've scanned all our theatre programmes and the majority of photographs from each show and made them freely available for you to view as we know that they are often of great interest to historians, curators, genealogists, Gilbert and Sullivan fans, performing arts students, ancestry and family tree research.
We've separated the collection into decades and then each decade into individual shows. For each show, you'll find a programme cover that is clickable and reveals the fully scanned programme.
Each show page contains a huge amount of information including:
The names of actors, directors and producers
Venues including The Winchester Guildhall, The Theatre Royal Winchester, Bishop's Palace Wolvesey Gardens
Black and White, and Colour Photographs
Local business and shop advertising and design
